Ferry services halted on two routes

BIWTA Aricha office DGM Shah Md Khaled Newaz confirmed the matter on Monday morning (January 1).



Ferry operations on the Paturia-Daulatdia and Aricha-Kazirhat routes have been suspended due to dense fog.

A total of six ferries were stuck in the middle of river. Ferry service was suspended by Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) on the routes around 11:30 pm to avoid accidents.

BIWTA Aricha office DGM Shah Md Khaled Newaz confirmed the matter on Monday morning (January 1).

He said that the authorities concerned decided to suspend the ferry service to prevent accidents, as the beacon light and marking points of the ferry service could not be seen.
