Passengers alleged that the services were suspended from 11:50am to 12:36pm.

Metro rail services were suspended for some times on Tuesday as a cable TV wire fell on the electric wire on the Karwan Bazar-Shahbagh route of the metro rail.

Passengers alleged that the services were suspended from 11:50am to 12:36pm.

But MNA Siddique, managing director of Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL), said the services were disrupted for 15 to 20 minutes.

"An external wire, likely a cable TV wire, was thrown onto the metro rail's power line between Karwan Bazar and Shahbagh. As a precaution, trains were instructed to reduce their speed," he said.

Scores of passengers were seen waiting in crowds at various stations after the announcement of the suspension.

Passengers, even those with tickets or MRT passes, were temporarily barred from entering, leading to long queues on the station's second floor.
