Rail communication between Sylhet, rest of the country resumes after 8 hrs

Sylhet, June 27 - Rail communication between Sylhet and the rest of the country resumed after eight and a half hours following the derailment of two bogies of the intercity Paharika train at Katalpur in Fenchuganj.

Sylhet Railway Station Manager Md. Nurul Islam confirmed the matter on Thursday morning.

He said, the derailment occurred around 7 pm on Wednesday, causing significant disruption to train services. The incident led to the suspension of all train movements between Sylhet and other parts of the country for several hours.

Rail communication between Sylhet and the rest of the country resumed after the launch of Chattogram-bound Udayan Express from Sylhet at 3:20 am on Thursday.

After the resumption of railway services, trains stranded at different stations started their journey to their respective destinations one by one.

Sylhet Railway Station Manager Md. Nurul Islam said, the Udayan Express train was scheduled to start its journey to Chattogram at 10 pm last night. Dhaka-bound Upaban Express train left Sylhet for Dhaka at 7 am. It was scheduled to leave for Dhaka at 11:30 pm last night.

The Kalni Express, originally scheduled for 6:15 am, also faced delays and departed at 8:45 am.-UNB
