A compartment of a Chhatogram-bound freight train derailed in Azampur area of Dhaka’s Uttara early Monday.

Md Anwar Hossain, master of Kamalapur rail station, said the bogie veered off the tracks at Azampur around 4:30am shortly after it had left Kamalpur station.

Though the derailment didn’t halt train movement between Dhaka and parts of the country, it slowed train operations, he said.

He said a rescue train went to the spot and was working to remove the compartment from the tracks, reports UNB.
