Hero Russel speaking at a human chain organised by CNG drivers and owners in Dhaka City on Sunday

Dhaka district's CNG vehicle owners and drivers organized a peaceful human chain demanding that Dhaka-Tha vehicles ply in Dhaka city. A huge human chain was organized in front of the Dhaka National Press Club with three thousand CNG drivers and one thousand CNG owners.

The convener of the human chain, Md. Rashed Howlader, said that we must be given the opportunity to ply CNG freely in Dhaka city. We CNG owners and drivers are becoming very, very helpless day by day. We will not return home until our demands are met.

Satisfied with the convener's statement, all the CNG owners and drivers agreed. Actor Russell Mia said in the human chain that if the drivers' seat belts come off in the air, they will not be sued! There must be a logical reason behind filing a case. It is not logical that CNG weighing 50 kg and costing three lakh taka has become three million taka worth for just one licence. Everyone from drivers to passengers are suffering from this extortion in the name of license.

We want BMWs to ply on the roads as well as CNGs to ply. The honorable advisor has sought our cooperation in the reforms. We want to cooperate in the reforms without embarrassing the advisor. I hope he will take note of the suffering of CNG drivers and owners and promise to be with them very soon! CNG drivers broke down into tears while speaking in the human chain. Thousands of CNG drivers want to escape harassment. Seek permission to operate in Dhaka. - Press release
