Ferry services on the Aricha-Kazirhat and Paturia-Daulatdia routes in Manikganj were restored on Saturday morning after being suspended for several hours due to dense fog.

Nasir Chowdhury, Deputy General Manager of the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) at the Aricha regional office, explained that the suspension on the Paturia-Daulatdia route began around 12:00 am, when thick fog reduced visibility, halting 12 ferries on both sides of the river.

The Aricha-Kazirhat route faced similar disruptions from 1:30 am, with poor visibility caused by the fog forcing authorities to suspend services.

As a result of the suspension, several ferries became stranded mid-river, while over 500 vehicles, including approximately 400 goods-laden trucks, were left stranded on both sides of the river, creating significant hardship for passengers and drivers.

The fog cleared by around 9:00 am, allowing ferry services to resume on both routes, bringing relief to those waiting for the crossings.
