Dhaka experienced heavier-than-usual traffic on Saturday morning as government offices and financial institutions are open for the day, breaking from the typical weekend routine.

The unusual Saturday activity follows the government’s decision to grant an extended 10-day holiday for Eid-ul-Azha, from June 5 to June 14.

The government announced the long Eid-ul-Azha holiday on May 6.

To make up for the extended leave, government offices will remain open on two Saturdays—May 17 and May 24—despite usually being closed on weekends, reports UNB.
