Body of a female police constable recovered in Kalapara

Patuakhali: Police have recovered the body of a female police constable named Meherunnesa Urmi (28), a mother of two children, in Kalapara, Patuakhali. Her body was recovered from a room on the third floor of a rented house in west Badurtali village of Tiakhali Union in the early hours of Saturday.

The deceased Urmi was the wife of dismissed police member Mohibbur Rahman Bappi of Indrapur village of Baufal upazila. She was also the daughter of Shahjahan Mia of the neighboring Amtali municipality and was working as a constable at Kalapara police station.

According to police and local sources, Urmi moved into the third floor of a five-story building of Amirul Islam in the area about 8 months ago with her husband Bappi, one-and-a-half-year-old son Fardin and four-year-old daughter Farista. The husband and wife often quarreled over family matters. Around 1:30 am, Bappi informed police station that his wife had committed suicide by hanging herself with a fan. Later, the police recovered the woman's body in the early hours of the morning.
