Police recovered the body of an unidentified man with a gamcha (traditional cotton towel) wrapped around his neck from the Padma River in Rajshahi.

Locals spotted the body floating in the river at Barkuthi in the city on Saturday afternoon and informed police.

Later, members from River Police and Boalia Model Police Station recovered and sent it to the Rajshahi Medical College Hospital morgue for an autopsy, reports UNB.

Rabiul Islam, Officer-in-Charge of Boalia Model Police Station, said a gamcha was tightly wrapped around the victim's neck.

He said they were working to determine the identity of the victim. "We are investigating the incident. Details will be revealed once the investigation is complete."
