Two minor siblings drown in Natore

Two siblings drowned in a water body near their home in Lalpur upazila of Natore district. Their bodies were recovered this afternoon.


The deceased were - nine-year-old Sohagi Khatun and six-year-old Abu Bakkar Siddique, children of Atikul Islam of Ishwarpara village in Lalpur upazila, Natore.

Lalpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shafiqul Islam said that after having lunch today, the two siblings went to play near their home. At around 3:00 pm, their bodies were found floating in a newly excavated water body beside the under-construction house of a neighbor, Arz Ali Pramanik, he said.

The siblings were rescued and taken to Lalpur Upazila Health Complex, where the attending doctors declared them dead, he added.

The OC said an unnatural death case has been filed with the police station in connection with the incident, reports BSS.
