Abducted JCD leader found dead in Cox’s Bazar
A local leader of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) was found dead with his hands and legs tied, four hours after being “abducted” in Chakaria upazila of Cox’s Bazar early Monday.
The deceased was identified as Isfatul Islam Jisan, 28, senior joint convener of Kakara union unit of JCD and son of Nazem Uddin of South Lotoni area of the upazila.
Police recovered Jisan’s bloodstained body from the Khutakhali-Kachhapia Dhala area on Chattogram-Cox’s Bazar highway, said Ismail Hossain, operations officer of Chakaria Police Station.
Quoting family members, police said a group of assailants forcibly picked up Jisan and put him in a microbus while he was standing in front of a shop in Kakarara Saber Sadar area around 12:30am before taking him away.
Later, Jisan was taken to Kabir Tower in Sabujbagh area under Chakaria municipality where the miscreants killed after torture.
The later dumped the body of Jisan beside the highway and fled away.
President of Chakaria upazila unit JCD, Rezaul Karim Bappi said Jisan was an emerging and active leader of the organisation.
“We strongly condemn the killing. If the killers are not identified and arrested,Chakaria upazila unit JCD will launch a strict movement on the streets with students,” he said.
The body was kept at Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy, said police.
Tension has been prevailing in Kakara Union and Chakaria municipality areas over the issue, reports UNB.
