Dhaka, March 16 --Police have arrested Jagannath University Assistant Proctor Deen Islam and student Amman Siddique over the death of Fairuz Abantika who committed suicide on Friday night.

DMP Commissioner Habibur Rahman confirmed this information to the media on Saturday night.

They were taken into police custody. Later, they will be handed over to the Comilla police, he added.

Earlier, a case was filed at Cumilla Kotwali Model Police Station tonight following a complaint lodged by Abantika's mother Tahmina Shabnam, said Firoz Hossain, officer-in-charge of the police station.

According to the case statement, Amman Siddique harassed  Abantika sexually on online and offline platforms while JnU Assistant Procter Deen Islam abused her verbally.

Meanwhile, protests were held at Jagannath University and in Cumilla district on Saturday demanding justice for Abantika. - UNB
