A heartbreaking series of drownings occurred in Magura and Bogura, claiming the lives of four individuals, including two young girls, over the past two days.

In Bogura, two sisters tragically drowned in Dangar Beel in Gabtali upazila this afternoon. The victims, identified as Nesha, 10, and Prottasha, 11, were daughters of local residents Mamun Mia and Abdullahel Kafi Paltu, respectively. According to Abdul Qaddus, sub-inspector of Gabtali Model Police Station, the girls ventured to the beel around 12:30 PM for a swim but soon found themselves in peril. Their bodies were later discovered by passersby, who alerted authorities.

In a separate incident in Magura, two men lost their lives while fishing in a beel at Bara Theipara village in Shalikha upazila yesterday. The deceased, Komolesh Biswas, 35, and Kanak Biswas, 40, both residents of the same village, were reported missing after failing to return from their outing. Ali Sajjad, deputy director of Magura Fire Service and Civil Defence, indicated that the search for the missing fishermen could not commence until the following morning due to the absence of divers. Local residents ultimately located the bodies before professional divers arrived from Khulna.

Authorities have initiated an unnatural death case at Shalikha Police Station to investigate the circumstances surrounding these tragic incidents.
