Two minor children drowned in separate ponds in Tongibari upazila of Munshiganj on Tuesday.

The deceased were identified as Mostakim, 3, son of Md Parvez of Betka village, and Tanha, 6, daughter of Sekul Sheikh of Borail village. Both were residents of the same upazila.

Family members and locals said Mostakim came to his maternal fathers’ house to enjoy vacation in Ganishar village from the Bekta village on Tuesday morning.

After a while, he went missing and later his body was found floating in a pond of the house, they said.

Locals rushed him to Upazila Health Complex where physicians declared him dead, they continued.

Separately, Tanha fell into the pond after slipping off her legs while washing hands and legs in the Borail village at noon, reports UNB.

She was also rushed to the Upazila Health Complex and pronounced dead upon arrival, they added.
