Tragedy struck Chandpur on Saturday as three young children drowned in separate incidents, all occurring between the morning and noon hours.

The victims—identified as Maimuna, 3, from Ramdashi in Chandpur Sadar Upazila; Miraj, 1.5, from the Sokdi area of the same Upazila; and Junayed Hossain, 2, from Rajargaon in Hajiganj Upazila—were brought to Chandpur General Hospital in the afternoon. Dr. Naser Abul Hasan confirmed that all three children were declared dead on arrival, having drowned earlier in the day.

According to the families of Maimuna and Junayed, a pond was located near their homes. When the children were discovered missing, a search ensued, leading to the discovery of their bodies floating in the water. The families had been preoccupied with household tasks at the time of the incidents.

In the case of Miraj, his family reported that he had been playing near a pond in the morning. When they realized he was missing, they began searching and later found him floating in the water. He was rushed to the hospital but was also declared dead.

The heartbreaking deaths have left the community in mourning, as local authorities have urged greater safety measures near ponds and water sources to prevent further tragedies.
