Driver killed, van snatched away in Mymensingh

Mymensingh, Mar 30 -Miscreants allegedly killed a battery-run auto-van driver and snatched away his vehicle after dumping his body into a maize field in Mymensingh Sadar upazila on Saturday night.

The deceased Nahid Mia was son of Kamrul Hossain from Charshasha village under Astadhar Union of the upazila.

Police and locals Nahid left home on Saturday morning with an auto-van but went missing in the evening.

His mobile phone was also found switched off while his family filed a general diary (GD) with Kotwali model police station after failing to locate him.

Later that night, locals spotted the body in the maize field and informed the police, who recovered the body and sent it to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Shafiqul Islam Khan said that the teen boy might have been committed to hijack his vehicle.

He also said that police launched drives to arrest the accused and recover the stolen vehicle. - UNB
