Muazzin electrocuted in Kurigram

A muazzin died from electrocution at Shimulbari village under Phulbari upazila of the district this morning.


The deceased was identified as Abdul Hamid, 68, muazzin of a local mosque and a resident of the same area.

Shimulbari Union Parishad Chairman Shariful Islam Sohel said Hamid came in contact with a live electric wire while trying to start an irrigation pump near his house around 9 am. He died on the spot.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Phulbari Police Station Abdus Salam confirmed the incident.
