Low-pressure area likely to form over Bay in 48 hrs: BMD

A low-pressure area is likely to form over northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining area by next 48 hours commencing 9 am on Wednesday, according to Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).


The axis of monsoon trough runs through North Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal to Assam across Southern part of Bangladesh.

One of its associated troughs extends upto Northwest Bay. Monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and moderate elsewhere over North Bay.

Meanwhile, Met office has predicted light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind and lightning flashes is likely to occur at many places over Chattogram and Sylhet divisions and at a few places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna and Barishal divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places over the country.

Day temperature may remain nearly unchanged and night temperature may fall slightly over the country, reports UNB.
