Deep Depression to Bring More Rain Across Bangladesh

A deep depression over the North Andaman Sea and adjoining coastal areas of Myanmar is moving north-northwestward and is likely to move further in the same direction, according to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).

The monsoon is currently less active over Bangladesh, while its activity over the North Bay of Bengal remains moderate.

In its forecast valid until 6pm Tuesday, the weather office said parts of Chattogram Division may experience light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty winds. Elsewhere, the weather is expected to remain mainly dry, with partly cloudy skies at times.

Daytime and nighttime temperatures are likely to remain nearly unchanged across the country.

For the following 24 hours from 6pm Tuesday, many areas of Chattogram Division may experience light to moderate rain or thundershowers with temporary gusty winds. Some areas of Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal and Sylhet divisions may also receive rain.

Moderately heavy rainfall is possible at isolated places in Chattogram Division during the period. The rest of the country is likely to experience mainly dry weather with partly cloudy skies at times.

Temperatures are expected to remain nearly unchanged across the country.

For the 24 hours from 6pm Wednesday, many areas of Chattogram and Sylhet divisions may experience light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty winds.

Some areas of Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna and Barishal divisions may also receive rain during the period.

Moderately heavy rainfall may occur at isolated places in Chattogram Division, while the rest of the country is likely to remain mainly dry with partly cloudy skies at times.

The weather conditions are associated with the deep depression over the North Andaman Sea and adjoining Myanmar coast. BMD has been monitoring the system and issuing updates as it moves north-northwestward.
