Bay Depression: BMD forecasts light to moderate rain across the country

A mild heat wave is sweeping over Rangpur div & Bogura, Sirajganj and Sylhet districts and it may abate.

Dhaka, Sept 14 - Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) on Saturday predicted light to moderate rains across the country in 24 hours commencing 9 am.

“Light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely at most places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions with moderately heavy to very heavy falls at places over the country, said a regular bulletin of Met office.

Besides, a mild heat wave is sweeping over Rangpur division and Bogura, Sirajganj and Sylhet districts and it may abate.

Day and night temperature may fall by 2-3 °Celsius over the country.

The well-marked low over southeastern part of Bangladesh and adjoining Northeast Bay of Bengal intensified into a depression, then land deep depression over Jashore and adjoining area at 09 AM today.

It is likely to move northwestwards further. The axis of monsoon trough runs through Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Gangetic West Bengal and center of the land deep depression to Assam across central part of Bangladesh.

Monsoon is active over Bangladesh and strong over North Bay.-UNB
