Light to moderate rain in parts of country

Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) today forecasted light to moderate rain or thundershowers with lightning flashes and temporary gusty winds across various parts of the country over the next 24 hours, commencing 9am today.


"Light to moderate rain or thunder showers with lightning flashes and temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at a few places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Dhaka and Sylhet divisions and at one or two places over Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places over Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions," said the BMD bulletin.

Besides, a mild heat wave is sweeping over the districts of Dhaka, Tangail, Gopalganj, Rajbari, Sirajganj, Chandpur, Bandarban, Khulna, Satkhira, Bagerhat, Jashore and Jhenaidah and it may abate from some places.

Trough of westerly low lies over West Bengal to North Bay across Southwestern part of Bangladesh.

Day and night temperature may fall slightly over the country.

Country's maximum temperature on Friday was recorded 37.5 degrees Celsius at Khulna Khulna division while the minimum temperature today was recorded 21.0 degrees Celsius at Tangail under Dhaka division and Ishurdin under Rajshahi division.

Tarash under Rajshahi division recorded the highest rainfall in the last 24 hours, measuring 67 millimeters until 6am today.

The sunset today at 6.35pm and rises at 5.15am tomorrow in the capital, reports BSS.
