
Darash and Kal Nagini snakes
Patuakhali: Members of the Kalapara branch of Animal Lovers of Patuakhali have rescued a 6-fert-long Darash and a one-and-a-half-feet-long Kal Nagini snake in Kalapara, Patuakhali. On Tuesday morning, the Darash was recovered from the house of farmer Nilkanto of Pakhimara village in Nilganj Union while it was entangled in a net, and the Kal Nagini snake was recovered from the house of Masud Molla of West Sonatala village.
Later, around 11 am, the two snakes were brought to the Upazila Animal Resources Office for treatment. At that time, locals gathered in a crowd to see the two snakes. The dark brown Darash snake is completely non-venomous and the Kal Nagini snake, which is green and yellow with red and black stripes, is mildly venomous.
Bayezid Ahsan, team leader of the Kalapara branch of Animal Lovers of Patuakhali, said that the two snakes were rescued after receiving a call on the hotline. The two snakes were given medical treatment as they were injured. Once they are fully recovered, the two snakes will be released into the reserved forest. - Gofran Palash
