Afroza Abbas Appointed Jatiya Mohila Sangstha Chair

Afroza Abbas, president of the Jatiyatabadi Mohila Dal, has been appointed chairperson of the Jatiya Mohila Sangstha (National Women's Organization) for a two-year term.

The Ministry of Public Administration issued a notification on Tuesday confirming the appointment. According to the order, she has been appointed under Sections 8(1) and 8(2) of the National Women's Organization Act, 1991, following a proposal from the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs.

Afroza Abbas, the wife of Prime Minister's Political Adviser Mirza Abbas, will assume the honorary position from the date she joins office and will serve for two years.

The notification said the government may terminate the appointment before the completion of the tenure if necessary. It also noted that the chairperson may resign at any time by submitting a signed letter to the government.

The post is honorary and carries no salary or other remuneration.

The Jatiya Mohila Sangstha works to advance women's development and empowerment by promoting skills development, socio-economic participation and welfare initiatives across the country.

Officials and stakeholders expressed optimism that the organization's programmes and outreach activities would gain further momentum under Afroza Abbas's leadership.
