Speaking as the Guest of Honour at a dialogue marking the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, the ambassador reaffirmed Switzerland’s commitment to supporting Bangladesh in preventing violence against women, the Swiss embassy said in a statement.
Renggli drew attention to a stark global reality: one in three women worldwide faces physical or sexual violence at some point in her life. He stressed that gender-based violence transcends faith, community and national boundaries, making its prevention a shared responsibility.
The Swiss envoy called for coordinated action by the government, civil society and international partners to ensure stronger protection for women and girls and to eliminate all forms of abuse.
