Dhaka, Oct 18 --The Interim Government has appointed Mufti Muhammad Abdul Malek, an expert in Islamic law and Hadith, as the khatib of the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque in Dhaka.

This appointment received official approval from the government on Thursday, as announced in a press release from the Ministry of Religious Affairs.

Mufti Abdul Malek has completed two years of advanced research in Hadith and Islamic law under the guidance of Sh. Abdul Fattah Abu Ghuddah, a renowned scholar and professor at Imam Mohammad Ibn Saud Islamic University (IMSIU) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

He has traveled to Makkah and Madinah in Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, India, and Turkey, where he has presented articles at various national and international seminars.

In addition to his scholarly work, Malek is the author of 16 books in Bangla, Arabic, English, and Urdu, and he has overseen the regular publication of a research journal called the Al-Kawsar. - UNB
