Dhaka, January 4: The Bangladesh Buddhist Association-Dhaka Region has expressed its sincere congratulations and best wishes to the current interim government's Chief Advisor Professor Muhammad Yunus, Advisor to the Ministry of Housing and Public Works Adilur Rahman Khan and RAJUK Chairman Major General Md. Siddiqur Rahman Sarkar (retd) on behalf of all Buddhist communities in Bangladesh, including the people of Dhaka, for allocating 23 (twenty-three) katha plots adjacent to the Bangladesh Buddhist Mahavihara in Sector 16, Uttara, for the last rites (cremation) of Dhaka Buddhists in a short time, ending the long-standing discrimination against Dhaka Buddhists.
The entire Buddhist community of Bangladesh, including the people of Dhaka, is very happy with the good news of allocating cremation grounds for Buddhists for the first time in Bangladesh after independence. The organization expressed deep respect and gratitude to the current interim government for implementing the long-standing anti-discrimination demands of minority Buddhists in the light of secularism and humanity at the earliest.
These messages were given in a press release by the Bangladesh Buddhist Association-Dhaka region.
