Highly appreciating decades of dedicated services of Anjuman Mufidul Islam to humanity, Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus on Monday laid emphasis on building a humane society where there will be no words like “unclaimed dead bodies,” stressing that such efforts would not harm to this organisation’s diversified services.

“It’s a unique institution on many fronts. Let’s build a society free from anything like unclaimed dead bodies,” he said, expressing his doubt whether there is any other institution in this subcontinent which survived for a very long period with its highly notable services to the society.

The Chief Adviser made the remarks before having iftar together with the boys and girls of a home run by Anjuman Mufidul Islam.

The iftar event was held at the newly constructed multi-storey Anjuman JR Tower. The Chief Adviser formally inaugurated the new building.

Describing Anjuman Mufidul Islam’s diversified services, Dr Yunus said they are proud of the people who run this institution.

The Chief Adviser said it is a big opportunity for him to come and know this organisation very well that he used to hear about from his childhood.

"It's a big opportunity for me. I truly feel this. Today, I have seen the institution in my own eyes," he said, mentioning the highly commendable role it played during COVID-19.

Dr Yunus said they feel proud of having such an organisation in Bangladesh and hoped that its programmes will further expand.

Anjuman Mufidul Islam is a Bangladeshi welfare organisation specially designed to enrich the livelihood of orphans and the distressed, serving the poorest of the poor for decades.

President of the Anjuman Mufidul Islam Mufleh R Osmany said the current market value of the land is Tk 200 crore and around 90 crore were spent to construct the building.

He said they received Tk 26 crore from the government which he sees as a big support in addition to donations received from various donors. “May Allah accept their donations!”

Food and Land Adviser Ali Imam Majumder appreciated the President of the organisation for dealing things prudently after facing some problems after the political changeover.

Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed said it is a very old organisation and he is impressed by their dedicated services. “Now everyone knows Anjuman Mufidul Islam. I am delighted to be here with the Chief Adviser.”
