Ramadan Crescent Sighted in Saudi Arabia, Fasting Begins

The crescent moon marking the beginning of Ramadan has been sighted in Saudi Arabia, the country’s Supreme Court announced on Tuesday. As a result, the holy month will begin on Wednesday.

During Ramadan, Muslims fast daily from dawn to dusk, abstaining from food and drink while focusing on prayer, reflection and acts of charity.

Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar and holds deep spiritual significance for Muslims worldwide. It is widely believed to be the month during which the Holy Quran was revealed to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

The month-long observance concludes with the festival of Eid-ul-Fitr, marking the end of fasting and a time of communal celebration.
