Hawkers demonstrate in Gulistan area
Hawkers demonstrated on Tuesday noon in protest against a drive of the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) in Gulistan’s Zero Point and the Baitul Mukarram areas.
Hawkers demonstrated on Tuesday noon in protest against a drive of the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) in Gulistan’s Zero Point and the Baitul Mukarram areas.
Around 1.00pm, a mobile court of the DSCC started the drive to oust hawkers. During the drive, hawkers gathered and began demonstration there. Huge number of policemen were deployed in the areas.
The drive was part of DSCC’s move to create pedestrian-friendly footpaths and roads for city- dwellers.
Officer-in-Charge of Palton Thana Salauddin Mia said the move has been taken to facilitate traffic movement. We help DSCC to continue its drive and evict hawkers from the areas.
