Speaking at the UN’s daily briefing on Wednesday, Stephane Dujarric told reporters that Guterres “condemns all attacks against civilians” and is “gravely concerned” by renewed fighting between the US and Iran.
“Few countries in the region are immune from this escalation,” he said, with airspace and shipping routes still heavily affected, reports AL Jazeera.
Dujarric relayed Guterres’s call for an immediate halt to military action, warning that further escalation would have “devastating consequences for civilians and the wider region”.
