Many in the Saudi ruling establishment would say there is no need for talks because, according to the Saudi perspective, Iran controls the Houthis and pulls the strings.

But this has been continuously and repeatedly denied by both the Houthis and the Iranians.

The Houthis believe they have independent decision-making, and the Iranians also confirm that. But the two sides have some common interests.

The Iranians have always been saying they have no interest in continuous escalation, and they believe the Saudis and Houthis are better off negotiating and establishing peace instead of continuing to fight.

This is what has been confirmed tonight by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. Iran says it has no interest in open war with its neighbours – even though Tehran believes these neighbours have continued helping the Americans and the Israelis, reports AL Jazeera.
