Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has declared that Iran will not “bow down to the excesses of aggressor countries,” reaffirming Tehran’s position that it will defend its territorial integrity and national sovereignty against any foreign threat.

Pezeshkian made the remarks during a meeting to review the qualifications of a proposed defence minister, according to Iran’s ISNA news agency. He stressed that Iran had no intention of seeking the territory of other countries and would not allow foreign adversaries to threaten or claim Iranian land.

“We will not allow the enemies to covet our country’s soil, just as we do not covet the soil of other countries,” Pezeshkian said, as quoted by ISNA.

The Iranian president’s comments underscore Tehran’s stated position that the country’s territorial integrity must be respected and that it will resist what it considers foreign aggression. His remarks also drew a distinction between defending Iran’s own territory and seeking to acquire land belonging to other nations.

The statement came in the context of discussions over the proposed defence minister’s qualifications, a process linked to the country’s defence leadership and security priorities. Pezeshkian’s remarks highlighted the importance his administration places on national defence and protecting Iran’s borders.

Iran has repeatedly emphasised sovereignty and territorial integrity in its official statements on security and foreign relations. Pezeshkian’s latest comments reaffirm that position, signalling that his government does not intend to accept external pressure that it views as a threat to the country.

However, the president’s statement, as reported by ISNA, did not identify specific countries or provide details of any particular action that prompted the remarks. The comments primarily conveyed Tehran’s broader position on foreign threats and its determination to safeguard Iranian territory.
