Seven security members and four civilians were injured when a bomb went off in Pakistan's northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Monday, rescue teams and police said.

The blast targeted a vehicle of paramilitary troops Frontier Corps at a busy road in the provincial capital of Peshawar at about 11:00 a.m. local time, Muhammad Zain, a rescue worker with the state-owned Rescue 1122, told Xinhua.

He said that they shifted the injured in five ambulances to a nearby hospital where five of them were in critical condition.

Talking to Xinhua on condition of anonymity, sources from the counter-terrorism department said that the nature of the blast was being determined, and according to the initial probe, an improvised explosive device was used to carry out the attack.

No group claimed responsibility for the attack.

Police cordoned off the area for further investigation while the rescue work has been completed, reports UNB.
