Tragedy Strikes as 17 Killed in South Africa Shooting
South African police have launched a manhunt following a horrific shooting that left 17 people dead in the town of Lusikisiki, located in the Eastern Cape province.
Authorities reported that 13 victims—12 women and one man—were found in a single house, while four others were killed in a second location. An 18th victim remains in critical condition at a local hospital.
The shootings occurred late Friday night, approximately 200 kilometers southwest of Durban. National police chief Fannie Masemola stated on SABC public television, "We do not know the motive behind this attack, nor do we have clarity on whether there is one or multiple suspects at large."
This incident follows a tragic event earlier this month in KwaZulu-Natal, where seven family members, including three children, were shot in their home. As of now, the perpetrators of that crime remain at large, raising concerns over ongoing violence in the region.
