Czech Restaurant Explosion Kills Six, Injures Eight
Six people were killed and eight others injured in a deadly explosion at a restaurant in Most, Czech Republic, emergency services reported on Sunday.
The explosion occurred at the Kojot restaurant in the northwestern city, with initial investigations suggesting that a heater was overturned, sparking a fire that led to a propane-butane cylinder explosion.
The fire service confirmed the blast, saying, "A propane-butane cylinder exploded in the Kojot restaurant in Most. According to witnesses, a heater tipped over and caused a fire."
Twelve fire brigade units responded to the scene, and firefighters successfully rescued one person trapped in the restaurant’s toilet. Thirty people were evacuated from the restaurant and nearby areas, while the injured were transported to local hospitals.
Czech Radio reported that around 20 guests were inside the restaurant at the time of the explosion. Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.
Most, located about 70 kilometers (45 miles) northwest of Prague, lies near the border with Germany’s Saxony region.
