Trump Invited to Address Congress on March 4
On Saturday, U.S. Speaker of the House Mike Johnson extended an invitation to President Donald Trump to address a joint session of Congress on March 4, marking the president's first formal speech to lawmakers since reclaiming the White House.
In a letter to Trump, Johnson, a staunch ally, emphasized the significance of the moment, inviting the president to present his “America First” vision for the future of U.S. legislation. The letter commended Trump’s “strong leadership and bold action” during the first week of his second term and praised his administration's early achievements.
“America’s Golden Age has begun,” Johnson wrote, echoing a phrase Trump had used in his inaugural address earlier that week.
With Republicans holding majorities in both the House and Senate, Trump's address is expected to focus on key legislative priorities and offer a glimpse into his policy agenda for the term ahead.
Since taking office, Trump has been on the move, visiting North Carolina and California in the aftermath of devastating disasters, before addressing a rally of supporters in Las Vegas on Saturday.
