Germany called for a diplomatic resolution on Friday to the escalating trade tensions between the US and China after China imposed retaliatory tariffs of up to 125% on American goods, following heavy tariffs from the United States.

Government spokesman Steffen Hebestreit emphasized that the dispute, which extends beyond just the two nations, is having significant repercussions on the global economy. "This situation is not only affecting the United States and China, but it is also impacting the interconnected global economy," Hebestreit said. "A negotiated solution is essential, one that benefits all parties involved."
