Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Wednesday expressed gratitude to U.S. President Donald Trump for his backing as Israel entered the sixth consecutive day of cross-border fire with Iran.

"I want to thank President Trump, a great friend of the State of Israel," Netanyahu said in a televised address. "I appreciate his standing by us and the United States' support in defending Israel’s skies."

The remarks come as tensions continue to escalate in the region, with no immediate sign of de-escalation. Israel and Iran have been locked in a cycle of missile exchanges since renewed hostilities erupted earlier this week.
