36 Killed, Dozens Injured in Tamil Nadu Rally Stampede
At least 36 people, including eight children, lost their lives in a stampede during a political campaign led by TVK leader Vijay in Karur, Tamil Nadu, on Saturday evening.
Among the victims were 16 women and 12 men, while more than 40 others were injured and are receiving treatment at hospitals across the district.
State Health Minister Ma Subramanian said additional doctors and forensic experts have been deployed to Karur Government Hospital to support emergency services.
He also confirmed that Chief Minister M K Stalin is set to visit Karur to oversee relief efforts and extend support to the victims’ families.
