9 held with ‘jihadi books’ from Kushtia dormitory


Dhaka – Police in a drive detained a teacher and eight students along with jihadi books from the dormitory of Medical Assistant Training School (MATS) in the district town in Kushtia on Tuesday afternoon.Additional assistant superintendent of Kushtia Police Joynul Abedin said a team of police conducted the drive at the dormitory of Kushtia MATS around 12pm as part of the government’s anti-militancy campaign,UNB News Agency Reported.
During the one and half hour-long drive, police detained eight students and a teacher of the institution and recovered a good number of jihadi books from the dormitory, he added.Police is suspecting that the detained students might have links to Islami Chhatra Shibir.Later, the detainees were taken to Kushtia Model Police Station for interrogation, the additional ASP added.
