Ashram attendant, Juba League man killed in Pabna

Dhaka – An attendant of Sree Sree Thakur Anukulchandra Ashram (asylum) was hacked to death by unidentified miscreants in Hemayetpur upazila of Pabna district on early Friday, Unb news agency reported.
Meanwhile, an activist of local unit Jubo League was stabbed to death by unidentified miscreants at Library Bazar in the district town on Thursday night.Abdullah Al Hasan, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station, said Nittyaranjan Pandey, 62, son of late Rashik Lal Pandey of Gopalganj, set out for a morning walk in the area around 5 am.
When he reached in front of Pabna Mental Hospital, a group of miscreants stabbed him in the head and neck, leaving him dead on the spot.
On information, police rushed in and recovered the body. The reason behind the killing could not be ascertained yet.
Nittyaranjan Pandey had been serving at the asylum for the last 40 years.
Alamgir Kabir, superintendent of Pabna Police visited the spot.
The incident took place three days into the killing of an elderly Hindu priest, Anando Gopal Ganguly in Jhenidah.
About the Juba League man killing, locals said Rajib Chowdhury, son of late Roushan Ali had an
altercation with some youths in the area over a trifling matter around 8:30 pm.
Being informed, Rajib’s elder brother Munna Chowdhury, 31, went to the spot and tried to settle the matter.
At one stage, the youths stabbed Munna indiscriminately, leaving him critically injured.
Later, he was rushed to Pabna General Hospital where the doctors declared him dead.
Abdullah Al Hasan, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station, confirmed the incident.
