Bangladesh win T20 too outclassing Pakistan


After whitewashing Pakistan 3-0 in ODI series, Bangladesh made another history beating Pakistan for the first time by seven wickets in the only Twenty20 International match of the Dan Cake Cricket series at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Friday.
Chasing a moderate target of 142 runs, the Tigers registered the victory scoring 143 for 3 in 16.2 overs featuring 22 fours and two sixes in their eighth T20I meet against Pakistan, spurred by Shakib-Sabbir unbeaten pair for 105 runs in 10.4 overs in the fourth wickets stand.
World’s best all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan hit not out 57 off 41 balls with nine fours while Sabbir Rahman was adjudged man of the match for his mesmerising unbeaten 51 off 32 balls featuring seven fours and one six.
After the dismissal of Mushifqur Rahim at 38 for 3 in 5.4 overs, Shakib-Sabbir pair showed their cricket fraternity carrying the team total to the winning score.
In the beginning Bangladesh faced early jolt losing opening Soumya Sarkar with duck as he was fell victim of run out off a Saeed Ajmal delivery at 14 for 1 in the fifth ball of the innings.
Opener Tamim Iqbal (14 off 10b, 2X4, 1X6) was caught by Mohammad Hafeez off a Umar Gul delivery at 17 for 2 in 2.2 overs.Mushfiqur Rahim (19 off 15 b, 4X4) was dismally bowled out by Wahab Riaz at teams 38 for 3 in 5.4 overs.
Umar Gul and Wahab Riaz took one wicket each for 23 and 39 runs respectively in 2 and 4 overs.
Earlier, Shahid Afrid’s side scored 141 runs for 5 in 20 overs which included 11 fours and three sixes in the innings, batted first after winning the toss.
Bangladesh new pace sensation Taskin Ahmed made the breakthrough in the visitors batting castle taking Ahmed Shehzad (17 off 31b, 2X4), caught by captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza, at 50 for 1 in 9 overs.
Veteran T20I hard hitter cum Pakistan skipper Shahid Afridi (12 off 9b, 1X6) was caught out by Mushfiqur Rahim off a Mustafizur Rahman delivery at 64 for 2 in 10.4 overs.
Spinner Arafat Sunny grabbed Pakistan opener Mukhtar Ahmed (37 off 30b, 5X4, 1X6) as Bangladesh Test captain Mushfiqur Rahim stumped him out at 77 for in 12.1 overs.
Haris Sohail and Mohammad Hafeez pair stayed for 49 runs in 5.4 overs in the fourth wicket stand to carry the team total to 126 for 4 in 17.5 overs.
In the mean time Mustafizur Rahman completed his second wicket haul in his first T20I as well as T20 debut trapping Mohammad Hafeez (26 off 18b, 4X4) lbw
Number four Haris Sohail scored not out 30 off 24 balls with one six.
Sohail Tanvir (8 off 8b) was fell victim of run out by Sabbir Rahman-Mushfiqur Rahim combination in the last ball of the innings.
Mustafizur Rahman grabbed two wickets for 20 runs in his four overs spell while Arafat Sunny and Taskin Ahmed took one wicket each for 23 and 29 runs respectively in 2 and 4 overs.
All-rounder Soumya Sarkar and 19-year old left-arm pacer Mustafizur Rahman made their T20I debuts in the match.
Mohammad Rizwan and Mukhtar Ahmed made their T20I debuts for Pakistan. Ahmed Shehzad and Sohail Tanvir, who were excluded from the ODI squad, got back to make first look-in on the tour. – UNB
