B’desh sees Thai army takeover as internal matter

Bangladesh has described the army takeover in Thailand as their ‘internal affairs’ and refrained from making any comment.
“It’s their internal affairs,” said State Minister for Foreign Affairs M Shahriar Alam after a function at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy in the city on Thursday evening declining to make any further comment. Earlier in the day, Thailand’s army chief announced that it was taking control of the government and suspended the constitution.
In a televised statement, the army chief said the military would restore order and enact political reforms.
The announcement came after two days of inconclusive talks by the main political factions. The army sealed off the talks venue and took the leaders away.
Thailand has been in political turmoil for months. On Tuesday, the army imposed martial law. – UNB
