Bnp wants Ashura blast probe, takes up Nov 7 observance plan

The main opposition Bnp has demanded full inquiry into the bomb blast incident at the Ashura gathering of the Shia Musims at Huseini Dalan Imambara on early Saturday and complained that the govenment was out to annihilate the party.
BNP has anounced a 10-day programme to celebrate the “National Revolution and Solidarity Day” that falls on November 7.BNP spokesman Asaduzzaman Ripon announced the programme schedule at a press briefing at the party’s Nayapaltan central office after a joint meeting of the party and its associate bodies.
He said the 10-day programme will begin on November 5 and continue till November 15.
The programmes include hoisting party flag atop its offices across the country at 6:00am on November 7.
Besides, BNP leaders and activists, led by its chairperson Khaleda Zia now in London, will place wreaths at the grave of former president and BNP founder Ziaur Rahman and offer fateha there at 10:00am on the day.
Ripon said the party will also arrange a discussion at the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh on November 8, marking the day.
He said other programmes to be organised by the party and its associate bodies include discussion, photo exhibition, free medical camps and blood donation to mark the day.
BNP and its associate bodies observe November 7 as “National Revolution and Solidarity Day” as on this day in 1975 soldiers and civilians jointly freed then chief of army staff Ziaur Rahman from captivity in Dhaka cantonment, paving the way for Zia to come to power.
But, the ruling Awami League and its front organisations consider it as the day of ‘killing of freedom fighters’, while Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD-Rab) observes it as the day of civil-military revolution.- News Desk
