BPL: Saif SC taste maiden victory beating Arambagh KS 1-0

Dhaka – Saif Sporting Club defeated Arambagh Krira Sangha 1-0 in their 2nd round encounter of the 10th Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) football at Bangabandhu National Stadium on Saturday.Saif SC forward Matin Miah scored the match winner in the 10th minute (1-0).The ball fired the net reflecting from Arambagh defender Mahmudul Hasan Kiron after Matin Miah’s shot. Arambagh goalie Akkas Sheikh tried to grip a straight cross attempt of Saif SC’s midfielder Jewel Rana from right flank, but his miscued gripping attempt shot by Matin Miah.Arambagh created pressure with two successive attacks in the 76th and 77th minutes to level the score but both the attempts went in vain due to the outstanding performances of Saif SC goalie Anisur Rahman Zico.Utilising a cutback pass from forward Jewel, Arambagh substitute midfielder Shahriar Bappy took a shot from the box which was saved by goalie in the 76th minute.Just a minute later, Arambagh midfielder Ikanga Jean Juales of (Cameroonian) took a powerful shot from top of the box, but his left footed attempt fisted by Saif SC goalie Zico to went out the ground in the 77th minute.Saif SC’s substitute midfielder Shadhin spoiled a chance in the stopgap time after 90 minutes as his shot from the box saved by Arambagh goalie Akkas Sheikh.The day’s match was interrupted for around six minutes in the middle of the 2nd half due to power outage at the ground.Saif SC defender Topu Barman took a right footed shot from goalmouth melee in the 30th minute which was saved by Arambagh goalie Akkas Sheikh.Arambagh forward Rajon Mia had a chance to put ahead his side in the 33rd minute, but his powerful shot from right flank straight went Saif SC’s goalie Anisur Rahman Zico’s grip.In the 38th minute, Topu Barman spoiled an opportunity as his header attempt from the box went out edging the crosspiece off a corner kick of defender Shakil Ahmed from right side.With their first ever victory in the 12-team meet, Saif SC opened their account collecting three points from two games as they started the tournament campaign with a 2-3 loss against defending champion Dhaka Abahani in the tournament opener.Arambagh conceded 2-4 defeat against Rahmatganj MFS in their first round encounter.
