Classroom crisis halts classes in JU


Classes and examinations of the environmental sciences department of Jahangirnagar University has been halted for about a month while the dept. of computer science and engineering is going to boycott all academic activities on Friday as the authorities have failed to resolve the ongoing classrooms crisis in the university.
The decision of suspension of all classes of CSE dept. was announced at a press meet on Thursday afternoon on the campus.

Prof.Sharif Uddin, Chairman of CSE deptt. blamed the administration for creating the crisis.
Meantime, the environment deptt. which already faces six months’ sessions jam, have been demonstrating since beginning of the February demanding a solution of the crisis as they stopped their academic activities since last month.
Meanwhile, the probe team formed to investigate the situation has failed to submit any report although the deadline to do so has passed.
The students of the CSE and environment departments held a several protest rally on the campus on Thursday pressing home their demand.
The teachers and students of CSE, environment science and Geological Science departments have been continuing their demonstration since February for allocating the newly constructed third floor of Geological science and CSE building for taking classes. – JU Correspondent
