Dhaka-Prime Minister’s Foreign Affairs Adviser Dr Gowher Rizvi has said the debate over the presence of Islamic States (IS) is not the central issue, and termed the attackers as homegrown and politically motivated ones. “My point is that they’re Bangladeshis, they are homegrown ones, and they are politically motivated,” Dr Rizvi told UNB on Sunday night.
There has been an effort to tag IS with the attack and there are mixed reaction from various quarters.
Dr Rizvi, however, does not want to go for debate saying, “Terrorists are terrorists. They come in all sizes and shapes.”
The Adviser also said the government will put in its all-out efforts to address the challenges learning from the latest incident.
Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan also said the attackers were homegrown local terrorists.
