Fakhrul’s 10-point set of suggestions to face abduction threat


Bangladesh Nationalist Party has asked its leaders and activists to take precautionary measures and follow a 10-point set of suggestions including not moving alone and avoiding unsafe areas considering the prevailing situation in the country.
BNP acting secretary Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir made the suggestions at a press conference at BNP chairperson’s Gulshan office in the city.
The suggestions came just a day after party chief Khaleda Zia issued a red alert to party activists in the walk of increased trend of killing, forced disappearance and abduction.The BNP leader criticised the government’s claim that the law and order is under control and said it is nothing but a mockery with security of the people.
“When the country passing through a severe panic, the government is making a joke with people’s security by claiming that the law and order situation is under control. Some responsible persons are making irresponsible statement accusing BNP of responsible for the ongoing abduction,” he said.
Fakhrul called upon them not to play political game with people’s security.
BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia while addressing a May Day rally at Suhrawardy Udyan on Wednesday issued organisation red alert in the walk of the prevailing situation.
Replying to a question, Fakhrul said the BNP has extended moral support to Sunday’s hartal in Narayanganj.
Criticising the statement of the prime minister that those who threatened to launch sudden attack are responsible for the incidents taken place, he said eh is making such statement to make people foolish. “People know who are doing this,” he added
Mirza Fakhrul said Bangladesh is now turned into a reign of terror under the present government that assumed power though a voter less election.
“Along with government’s repressive acts, attacks and false cases, extra judicial killing and raids to suppress, abduction, forced disappearance and killings turned into a regular phenomenon. Besides, political leaders and activists now businessmen, professionals, elected representatives and lawyers are become the victims of abduction. Women and children are not spared,” he said
The BNP leader said people irrespective of political affiliation, religion and class are frightened.
“Bangladesh turned into a land of death valley and terror…The country is seen repetition what happened during 1974-75 like killing, forced disappearance and abduction. Now there is no guaranty of normal death,” he added
He said the forced disappearance and abduction are taking place in the name of name of law enforcing agencies but they are denying it.
“The safety and security of people are endangered…BNP as a party of people cannot remain play their role of silent spectre,”
He called upon the people to get united and come forward for the safety of the people and build resistance against the killing, forced disappearance and abduction.
The BNP acting secretary general placed the 10-point suggestions and pre-cautionary measures in view of the red alert of the part chief.
The 10-points precautionary measures and suggestions are given below:
Creating awareness among the people about abduction and forced disappearance by distributing leaflet, posters, and holding rallies and building resistance against such offence.
Keep alert during movement, avoid movement alone and unsafe areas.
Keep alert on the safety and security of party leaders and activists and keep in touch each other with common people.
Collect the contact numbers of journalists and officers of local enforcers and quickly inform them if any incident takes place.
Keep contact with party headquarters on regular basis.
Immediately visit the place in a team where after receiving any news of abduction.
Ensure the identity of law enforcers if any of them try to detain anyone from their homes and know the destination where they were taking.
Rush to the place in a team where the detain people are taken and try to speak with officials of law enforcers.
Resist anyone who falsely identifies themselves as members of law enforcing agencies and hand over him/her to police.
Stand besides the victims’ family and observe protest programme at locally.
