Mohammedan return winning streak in BPL

Dhaka, 27 June - Malian forward Souleymane Diabate scored a brace as Mohammedan Sporting Club returned winning streak in the TVS Bangladesh Premier League football defeating Lieutenant Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club by 3-1 goals held today (Monday) at Shaheed Dhirendranath Datta Stadium in Cumilla.

Apart from Diabate's two goals, midfielder Sheikh Morsalin supported him with a lone goal for Mohammedan who led the first half by 2-1 goals.

Mohammedan began to dominate the play and got reap in the 35th minute when Morsalin opened an account scoring the first goal in the 34th minute.

But, the lead lasted for few minutes and Sheikh Jamal restored the parity by virtue of a social goal. Mohammedan's Diabate scored an own goal in the 39th minute to make the score line 1-1.

After resumption, Mohammedan came to the field with more organised way and it was Diabate who scored two more goals to secure Mohammedan's comprehensive victory. He again took the lead scoring the second goal for Mohammedan converting a spot kick in the 43rd minute and finally sealed the victory scoring the third goal again from the spot kick in the 83rd minute of the match.

Mohammedan SC clearly dominated the entire proceeding and notched their deserving victory on the day while Mohammedan SC were off-colored.

The day's win saw, the traditional black and white Motijheel outfit raised their tally to 25 points from 17 matches while Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club remained at their previous credit of 30 points playing the same number of matches.
 
Earlier in the first phase, the two teams played out to a 1-1 draw held at Bir Flight Lieutenant Matiur Raman Stadium in Munshiganj.

Uttar Baridhara Club vs Rahmatganj Muslim and Friends Society at Sheikh Fazlul Haque Mani Stadium in Gopalganj Saif Sporting Club vs Swadhinata Krira Sangha at Bir Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Munshiganj and Abahani Limited, Dhaka vs Chittagong Abahani Limited at Shaheed Dhirendranath Datta Stadium in Cumilla. All the matches kick off at 4 pm.
