Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had a meeting with a delegation of
Jatiya Party (JP), a key component in the ruling Awami League-led
grand alliance, at her Ganobhaban residence.
JP Chairman HM Ershad is leading the delegation to the meeting that
started at about 7:30pm.
The meeting is part of Hasina’s plan to discuss with the components of
the ruling grand alliance and party leaders before advising the
President on election.
In her address to the nation on Friday, Sheikh Hasina said as per
article 72(1) of the Constitution, the election will be held as per
the written advice of the Prime Minister to the President.
JP secretary general Ruhul Amin Hawladar, Presidium members Ziauddin
Ahmed Bablu, Barrister Anisul Islam Mahmud, MP and Commerce Minister
GM Quader are, among others, in the JP delegation.
Awami League general secretary Syed ashraful Islam, Presidium Members
Syeda Sajeda Chowdhury, Kazi Zafrullah and Mohamad Nasim, advisory
council members Suranjit Sengupta, Amir Hossain Amu and Tofail Ahmed,
PM’s advisers HT Imam and Dr Alauddin Ahmed and, Civil Aviation and
Tourism Minister Faruk Khan and Environment and Forests Minister Dr
Hasan Mahmud are also preset. -UNB
